Nightmare tour will haunt Zelie, Harmony
Halloween fest begins Friday

ZELIENOPLE — As Halloween approaches, the ghosts of Butler County will once again haunt the borough.
In its second year, Northern Nightmares — a lineup of events that includes classic monster movies, Halloween-themed dance performances and a spooky tour — will begin haunting Zelienople and Harmony on Friday.

Visiting cemeteries, railroad crossings and rumored haunts like the Harmony Inn, Ron Carter, executive director of the Strand Theater Initiative — the group working to restore the historic theater — said the Nightmare Tour will incorporate ghost stories from throughout Butler County to Zelienople and Harmony locales to fit time constraints.

"The stories themselves are based on happenings in Butler County,"he said.
But while Carter will hint at some stops — which could include some festively decorated homes — he won't mention many. "We don't want to give away too much,"Carter said.
The Nightmare Tour, which lasts about 45 minutes, will pick up and drop off riders at the Hovis Auto Parts store on Main Street in Zelienople.

Tours begin at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. each Friday and Saturday during October.
The Nightmare Tour is the centerpiece of Northern Nightmares, which also includes Halloween-themed dancers and performers and B horror films.

The Solid Mold Dancers, performances, in which local dance schools and performers put on Halloween-themed acts, starts every half-hour starting about 6:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Rite Aid on Zelienople's Main Street.
Each Saturday, classic horror films will be shown at 7 and 9 p.m. at Beecher's Cafe on Main Street, with the lineup of films to be determined this week.
