The
Strand is one of several non-profits participating in
the Pittsburgh Foundation's Pittsburgh is Art Day of
Giving event. On Wednesday, May 11, donors will
have 24 hours to make a contribution to The Strand and
a portion of your donation will be matched by the
Pittsburgh Foundation.
Here's
How It Works:
o On Wednesday,
May 11, visit www.pittsburghgives.org.
You have 24 hours starting at midnight on
Wednesday.
o
Search for Strand Theater Initiative
and be sure to specify our organization when making
your contribution using your Visa or MasterCard.
We are listed in alphabetical order with many other
arts non-profits.
o
Any donations made to The Strand on that day will
receive a portion of the matching pool of $475,000.
o
ONLY funds donated on May 11 will receive a
portion of the match pool. The matching dollars will
be pro-rated – this not a $1-to-$1 match –
which ensures that every organization that receives
gifts that day receives a piece of the matching pool.
o
Donors will have only 24 hours to give. Only
credit card gifts through www.PittsburghGives.org
will be eligible for matching funds (Visa and
MasterCard only).
o
No gifts from checks, cash, gift card redemptions, or
donor-advised fund grants will be eligible for
matching funds. Each donation must be
timestamped through the online system.
o Minimum gift eligible for match: $15, so
it doesn't take a lot to qualify for a match!
o The maximum
gift to a single organization is $10,000, but there is
no limit to the total contributions from multiple
donors that we are eligible for on this one day.
o The Strand will
receive your contribution, less a 2.9% credit card fee
plus a portion of the matching pool. The actual
match percentage (the amount could end up at, for
example, .50 on the dollar or .20 on the dollar,
depending on the total amount raised) will be
published after the day’s receipts have been
verified and reconciled. This is likely to occur
within 24 hours of the close of the Day.

contribution - as little as $15 - will then qualify
for the matching program and ANY funds donated to The
Strand will help to ensure our ability to continue
delivering compelling live and cinematic excellence to
the communities that it serves. In addition,

Giving Program Makes It Easy to Help The Strand
With
The Strand's Phase 1 renovations completed, we're
still in need of your financial support. We're
already working toward plans for Phase 2 and
beyond. Once more money is raised, the stage house will be
built, making The Strand viable for full-scale, live
productions. We also have plans in place for a
parking deck and multi-purpose center for Black Box
Theater, dance and acting school rentals and private
functions.
‘ANGEL’
Program Makes it Easy for Donors to Help
Most
capital campaigns like ours are fortunate enough to
have ‘Angels’, individuals with the means to make
major contributions. Well, this new program
allows anybody to be an Angel for The Strand.
Donors simply click on one of the amounts listed below
from $5 to $100. That amount is then deducted from
their credit card or Paypal account each month for one
year, like a subscription.
It’s
the easiest way in the world to make a Strand
donation. Some people want to help, but feel
they can’t afford to write a big check. This way,
they can dedicate as little as $5 a month and they
don’t have to do anything after they sign up. No one
will miss $5 a month, but if enough donors sign up, it
will make a HUGE difference in our ability to complete
Phase 1 and begin plans for Phase 2. Questions?
