Joan Teichart, Historical Consultant
Full Time Profession: Retired
Joan is an avid amateur historian and takes great pride in her knowledge of Zelienople. Her Father, Alvin Teichart, was born in the Orphan's Home - what is now Glade Run - in Zelie. Joan returned to her childhood home after decades of living abroad and has been very active in the promotion and preservation of Zelienople's historic legacy.
Joan was the President of the Zelienople Historical Society for 10 years. She continues to serve both the Society and neighboring Historic Harmony as a volunteer in addition to her generous service to The Strand Theater Initiative.
Joan's extensive contacts throughout local business and social circles, coupled with her extensive experience in communications and fundraising, have made her a valuable asset to The Strand's renovation.
Having success with it this type of event in the past, Joan spearheaded The Initiative's first annual Taste of the New North Dining Out extravaganza in which restaurants from all over North Pittsburgh present segments of their top menu items to area patrons. That event continues to be the largest single-day fundraising event for The Initiative.
The Strand Theater Initiative is grateful to Joan for her generous support and its success is due in large part to her ongoing participation as a Board Member and active volunteer.
