Ain't Misbehavin the Official National Tour
Friday & Saturday ONLY!  Nov 8 & 9    Three Shows!
The Joint will be jumpin as The Strand welcomes the Official Touring Production of this Tony-Winning Musical

It's another historic moment in the life of The Strand!  After nearly 10 years since it's Grand Reopening, we're thrilled to welcome our first-ever, OFFICIAL national tour of the Tony-Winning Broadway production of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'!  The tour will arrive for THREE SHOWS ONLY, on November 8 & 9.

AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' is a musical revue with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr., and music by various composers and lyricists as arranged and orchestrated by Luther Henderson. It is named after the song of the same name by Fats Waller (with Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf).

The musical is a tribute to the black musicians of the 1920s and 1930s who were part of the Harlem Renaissance, an era of growing creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride, and takes its title from the 1929 Waller song "Ain't Misbehavin'". It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing. Five performers present an evening of rowdy, raunchy, and humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era and reflect Waller's view of life as a journey meant for pleasure and play.

The original 1978 production won three Tony Awards including Best Musical, and ran for an impressive 1,604 performances through 1982.

This national tour, easily, could have played downtown in of the cultural district's esteemed venues, but we could not be more excited to bring this outstanding production to The Strand, it's ONLY Pittsburgh area stop!  This production has been called, "Deliciously Entertaining" by The Chicago Tribute.  The Chicago Sun Times wrote, "Fun and off-the-charts galvanic energy are the main orders of the day in this show... Talk about "Spreadin' the Rhythm Around." Pure joy.". The Huffington Post gushed, "This is a boozy, after hours party, and we're all invited."  The Chicago Reader says, "A top-flight cast and band who capture the score's ebullient energy and swinging stylishness"
