2 Outstanding Films Based on the Real Life Turning Point of WWII in the Pacific

Most historians agree that the battle of Midway was the turning point in the pacific theater during World War II.  The Strand proudly presents a 'yesterday and today' film event that showcases the drama and intrique surrounding that amazing turn of events in our nation's history.

Enjoy the original blockbuster from 1976 starring Charlton Heston & Henry Fonda or the critically acclaimed 2019 new release starring  Ed Skrein & Patrick Wilson!  Or see both films for one low price!

Midway from 1976 stars Heston and an all-star cast from Hollywood's late Golden Age such as Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum and James Coburn, and is a more 'romanticized' Hollywood spectacle about the famed Pacific battle. in fact, Charlton Heston's role of aide to Admiral Nimitz was a fictional character.

2019's Midway features a top shelf cast from today's top Hollywood stars such as Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson and Dennis Quaid.  This version is based on the real life accounts of the battle as told by the leaders and the sailors who fought it.

The USS Midway (CV-41), the Midway-class aircraft carrier named in remembrance of the Battle of Midway, was the longest-serving US aircraft carrier of the 20th century (1945-1992). It has been at Navy Pier in San Diego, California, since 2004 as a museum ship. As of 2015, it's the most popular naval warcraft museum in the United States, with over 1 million visitors per year.
